Who is Al Fred Montero?
He is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Communication Research at Polytechnic University of the Philippines. A seasoned community Theater Actor for four years which he honed his acting skills. His family supports his acting career, which he finds an advantage for him. I found him a God-fearing and humble person as he actively serves in their Parish and the way he answers questions during the interview. He has the looks of an action star, some say his look-alike of the late Rudy Fernandez.
Al Fred was introduced in “NAGALIT ANG PATAY SA TAGAL NG LAMAY,” an Action Comedy Horror Movie. However, due to pandemics, it is not released. When he received an opportunity to work with Direk Kaka Balagtas he did not hesitate to accept it, even if it was a short film project. Having been directed by an award-winning filmmaker is indeed an opportunity. Portraying the role of Rael, whom he thinks they have in common with his character, to fight for someone you Love, “pero di po ako madahas” he exclaims. This newcomer undergoes an acting workshop. And in preparation for the action scene, he trained in Martial Arts and Arnis.
Working with the Veteran
He looks happy and humbled at the same time for this opportunity. He was delighted to know how humble the veteran director is during shooting days. Al Fred said.
The demise of the action-drama in the entertainment industry does not affect him. This newcomer is somewhat positive despite the challenges for many aspiring actors. He is ready to take the industry slowly but, surely.
“Takas”, a short film by the award-winning director Kaka Balagtas will be an entry to this year’s Cinemalaya.
